Kiango is located around 30 minutes away from Kisii town in Western Kenya. At this site there is an elderly woman referred to as "mom" by the locals, who cares for a group of orphans. There is a shallow well nearby that is used primarily for drinking and domestic use. It has become difficult for mom to continue to haul water as she is elderly and has an injured arm. To help provide this community, which does not have electricity on site, with the necessary water they need on a day to day basis; we installed a solar powered submersible MajiPump and small storage tank for holding drinking water. The hope is that with the time saved from manually lifting water from the well, more effort will go towards boiling and purifying the water so that it is void of ground microorganisms and safe to consume.
